removing carrageenan residue

Post by kimcomstock »

Hi, I am new here so apologies if this is common knowledge. I am making very large sheets of paper and am having a hard time getting all the carrageenan off. When I have very dark color lines, I have to wash very gently. I have done a lot of experimenting with the balance of the paint, and I have learned that if the paint is too concentrated (the dark gets pushed too tight together- I dont know the proper term) it doesnt "take". Often all my colors will "take" except for the very darkest most concentrated one. SO all I have found is that I need to wash gently. So it is a balancing act. Sometimes I THINK that I have washed it well enough, but then after it is dry there is still a heavy opalescent carrageenan residue. Sometimes dirty with paint residue.
Is there a chemical way to remove this after it's dry?
