supplies in germany

Post by jojo »

hi everybody! i'm looking for marbling supplies in germany.. so far i have managed to buy the wrong type of carrageenan (good for jellies) and lots of paint that doesnt float or spread on the paste i used instead. i changed the paste and bought some other colours and it got better but not really good... i had some sucess with marbling on paste some years ago with absolutely random paint leftovers and some old paper and now nothing i try seems to work!! so my question is: can anybody tell me a working combination of size and colour brand and dilutant and maybe even papers that are available in germany? and where to get them? that would be absolutely wonderful! cheers, jo.

Hi Jojo,

I suspect that you need more support than just where to get which materials, and suggest to get in touch with Dirk Lange at http://www.handmarmorpapier.de and book a course. Dirk is the best of the best and a brilliant teacher.

Hi susanne! Thanks for the tip, it sounds great! i will definitely book one of those courses! Its just that i would love to get on with my experiments before may..it's such a long time until then! Would you tell me the brand of acrylic that you use for your marbling? That would be very helpful! Thanks, jo.

Hi Jojo,

as you can see when visting my website, I don't marble. Acrylics is not my material of choice except for beginners' courses, so I'm afraid I can't help you there.

Thank you, jojo.

If you like, come to Hamburg for my course April 01 / 02 (see details on my website). The only course with open access this year, and as the Museum cooperates with the Volkshochschule the price is sensationally low.

Paste paper is another world from amrbling, promise! You'll learn loads for your marbling, too, though not on the technical side of course.
